Riassunto / AbstractThe spreading of boreal and arctic-boreal benthic invertebrates of an Atlantic origin to the Arctic shelf was investigated using Piccoli-Sartory equation (Piccoli et al., in the refs.). It is proposed that the spreading power depends on climatic factors of the region, the predominant mode of reproduction in the taxon, and on biogeographical origin of its species. The mathematical model was used to test if the number of species in certain taxa of the colonizing fauna differs for the theoretically derived value, and to examine biogeographical heterogenity whithin taxa.
